I care about the whole student in front of me, their confidence, their habits, their wellbeing, and yes, their grades too.
Based in Metro Detroit. Virtual sessions anywhere.
Metro Detroit, Michigan
I tutor and mentor students one on one. The tutoring part is what parents usually reach out about. The mentoring part is usually what ends up mattering most.
I've always been the friend people feel comfortable around, the one people open up to easily, and the one who somehow gives decent advice, mostly because I actually try to live it myself. I also happen to be academically inclined. I'm currently excelling in three majors in college, but that was never really the point for me. What I've cared about for as long as I can remember is helping people become the best version of themselves. I think that started back in my own childhood.
I've had mentors in my life who completely changed the direction I was headed. I would not be who I am without them, and I would be honored to be that for your child too.
So that is how I show up in every session. We work through the actual material, and we also work on the things underneath it: confidence, discipline, wellbeing, mindset, communication, and professional habits that carry a student well past a single class.
My academic background is in actuarial mathematics, economics, and psychology at the University of Michigan. Outside of school I have spent years in color guard and dance, work as a certified barre instructor, and have been a resident advisor, which is really just years of practice keeping people motivated, comfortable, and moving forward even when they do not feel like it.
This is the part of my work I care about most. It shows up in every session, whether we are reviewing a test or talking through a rough week.
Most students who say they are bad at something are really just used to being stuck in front of other people. We rebuild that, and work on the story they tell themselves about their own ability.
Showing up, starting before you feel ready, and finishing the thing. We set small systems that survive a bad week instead of relying on motivation.
Asking a clear question, speaking up in class, emailing a teacher, having a hard conversation. Skills that make everything else easier once they are in place.
Deadlines, calendars, resumes, interviews, and how to carry yourself in a room. I teach it at whatever level actually fits the student.
Sleep, nutrition, and movement, drawn from my own background as a barre instructor. A student running on empty cannot learn, so we talk about it honestly.
For students who want coaching in movement and performance too. I bring years in color guard and dance, and everything that teaches about discipline and poise.
I stick to the subjects I genuinely love because that is where I am most useful.
This is where number sense and problem solving habits get built, and where most later math trouble actually starts.
Grades 6 to 10Limits, derivatives, integrals, and the AP exam itself, built around whichever concepts are actually shaky.
High school & APReading data honestly, probability, distributions, and interpreting results instead of just plugging into a formula.
High school & intro collegeCompound interest, present value, accumulation functions, nominal versus effective rates. Great for students who are ahead and want something real to chew on.
AdvancedSupply and demand, market structures, fiscal and monetary policy, taught with real examples instead of just graphs.
High school & intro collegeIntro-level psychology, from research methods to the major theories, for students building toward AP or college coursework.
High school & intro collegeBeginner and intermediate Spanish, focused on actually being able to speak and understand it.
Beginner / IntermediateSupport across IB coursework and internal assessments, tailored to whatever subjects and level a student is enrolled in.
IB DiplomaOrganization, time management, communication, and confidence. Can be the whole focus of our sessions or woven into the tutoring.
Any ageEvery student gets their own plan and their own materials. Nothing here is recycled from the last kid.
I do not move on until a student can say it in their own plain words. Repeating the steps is not the same as understanding them.
Lessons are made for the person in front of me, at their pace, from catching up on old gaps to going well past grade level.
Consistent sessions, honest updates for parents, and a plan that changes as the student grows. I will tell you what I am actually seeing.
Every session is one hour, one on one. The more consistently a student meets, the lower the rate, because that is also when the work goes best.
Packages do not expire on a strict clock. If life gets in the way for a week, we reschedule.
It takes a few minutes and tells me who your student is, what they are working on, and what you are hoping changes.
I read every form myself. I will follow up with any questions and confirm we are a good fit.
Once the form is complete, use the scheduling link to pick a time for the first session. After that we usually settle into a recurring slot.
The form comes first. The scheduling link is step two, once your form is in.
